We are approaching our next buiatric congress in Madrid, Spain. The organizing committee led by ANEMBE is active setting up another major scientific program as well as a memorable social program. Please, do not hesitate to promote the event in your country.
Recently the WAB officers met with the organizers of two international congresses with different approaches to choosing venues for their congress. For one of the two organizations, the solution was to rely on a professional convention organizer for the choice of destinations. The other organization relied on the national association as does the WAB. Both methods have their advantages and can certainly lead to high quality congresses for the participants. Regardless of how you do it, you must consider the costs and benefits associated with organizing the conference. The organization's mission and objectives must be kept in mind when choosing the best way to proceed.
This brings me to the importance of involving our national members in the selection of a site and the organization of a successful congress. For the organization of the WAB Congress we still choose to rely on the submission from member countries with a strong and active national association. In the months preceding each congress, we rely on our members to submit their application for the congress which will take place 4 years later. The bid will be evaluated very seriously by the Executive Committee of the WAB, based on the quality of the candidacy. Bids are open to every country.
In accordance with our selection procedures, the WAB officers have chosen not to accept invitations from professional conventions organizers (PCO), tourism bureau or convention centers. We want to favor discussions and invitations from full member associations of the WAB.
